Everything you need before you arrive: getting here, parking, timings and the questions guests ask most.
Getting to Pornic
- By car
- From Nantes, allow around 50 minutes (about 50 km) via the D751 then the D213. From Paris, allow 4.5 to 5 hours. Both studios are right in the centre: follow “Pornic centre / le port”, and do the rest on foot.
- By train
- The Nantes-Pornic regional line takes roughly an hour, with several return trips a day. Pornic station is a 3-minute walk from the Old Harbour Studio and 5 minutes from the Galipaud Nest, so you can absolutely come without a car.
- By plane
- Nantes Atlantique airport is about a 45-minute drive away. Car hire, taxi, or shuttle plus train depending on your timings.
- Once you are here
- The old harbour, the shops, the market, the casino and the first beaches are all walkable from both studios. The coastal path that follows the whole shoreline starts a few minutes away.
Parking
- Before you go looking for a space
- Much of central Pornic is a blue zone: parking is free but capped at 1 hour 30, from 9 am to noon and from 2 pm to 7 pm, with a parking disc required. The disc costs 2 euros at the tourist office. For a stay, head for the unrestricted free areas below and keep the blue zone for unloading your bags.
- Chapelle de l’Hôpital car park, the closest
- Rue du Maréchal Foch, the Old Harbour Studio’s own street, a stone’s throw from the Galipaud Nest. Sixteen spaces including two electric charging points, accessible to people with reduced mobility. Ideal for unloading on arrival, but it is a blue zone, so do not plan on leaving the car there for the week. See the car park on pornic.com
- Station car park, our recommendation
- Place de la Gare, a 3 to 5-minute walk from the studios. Around 175 spaces, of which 140 are free with no time limit in the eastern section, plus two charging points. This is where we suggest leaving the car for the whole stay. The western section is a blue zone. Parking is allowed for up to 7 consecutive days. See the car park on pornic.com
- Verdun car park, the largest
- Rue Jules Michelet, in the upper town. 227 spaces, with the whole northern section free and unrestricted all year, up to 7 consecutive days. The southern section becomes a blue zone in summer. This is the fallback when the station car park is full, on a busy August day for instance. See the car park on pornic.com
- The owner’s tip
- In July and August, and on sunny weekends, do not circle the harbour. Unload on rue du Maréchal Foch, park at the station or at Verdun, and leave the car there until you go home. Everything is walkable from both studios.
- If you come by bike
- Neither building has a bike room. On rue du Maréchal Foch, metal hoops directly opposite the studio let you lock the frame. Bring a good lock, as the bike stays outside overnight.
Check-in and check-out
- Arrival
- From 3:00 pm, entirely self-service. The Old Harbour Studio has a keypad smart lock, the Galipaud Nest a secure key box. Either way, you receive your personal code before arrival, so there is no meeting and no handover. A late arrival is not a problem.
- Departure
- Before 11:00 am. Simply close the door behind you, we take care of the rest.
- Getting inside
- The Old Harbour Studio is on the first floor, reached by stairs (the building has no lift). The Galipaud Nest is on the ground floor of a small building. Please keep noise down in the common areas, particularly late at night.
Frequently asked questions
Can I arrive late in the evening?
Yes. Keypad smart lock at the Old Harbour Studio, secure key box at the Galipaud Nest: you come in whenever suits you, including after 10 pm, without meeting anyone.
Can I book for a single night?
Yes, in most cases. It is precisely why we chose studios over a large apartment: in Pornic, many stays last one or two nights. The live calendar shows the durations actually available.
Is there parking?
Neither studio has a private space, but the area offers free street parking and paid car parks nearby. In peak season, park a few streets uphill: it is far easier.
Are the studios accessible without stairs?
The Old Harbour Studio is on the first floor of a building with no lift, so access is by stairs. The Galipaud Nest is on the ground floor. Write to us if that could be an issue and we will tell you frankly which one suits you.
Are bed linen and towels provided?
Yes, bed linen and towels are provided and included in the rate. The bed is made when you arrive.
How many people can each studio sleep?
Two in each: a queen-size bed at the Old Harbour Studio, a 160 x 200 cm sofa bed at the Galipaud Nest. Both are designed for a couple, a business traveller, or a solo guest who wants some room.
Can I really cook here?
Yes, and that is one of the big advantages over a hotel room: hob, fridge, microwave, espresso machine, kettle, full crockery and wine glasses in both studios. The Old Harbour Studio adds a dishwasher and a toaster, the Galipaud Nest an oven.
Are pets allowed?
No, our studios do not accept pets. They are small spaces, occupied all year round and sometimes by guests with allergies: we would rather be clear than spring a bad surprise on arrival.
Is Wi-Fi included?
Yes, Wi-Fi is available in both studios, with a table to work at. Credentials are sent to you before arrival.
Is booking direct better than using a platform?
Yes. Booking through this site means no platform commission and no service fees: the rate is the same for us and better for you, and you deal directly with the owner.
